why so many adapters for this unit what kind of adapter do u need for a mp3 player that works with this unit.
New? While item was sold as new when I received it had been resealed. There was no effort made to repackage. The plastic for manuals and item itself were just left on top of box when you opened it. I have not hooked up yet and hope item works.
Good product limited functionality. This adapter was just what I was looking for. I have had my JVC car stereo for a couple years but I wanted a more convenient method of storing and playing my music so I got an iPod and this adaptor. It was easy to install and I did not find it difficult to learn to navigate the menus on the JVC front panel. I did have one major disappointment which is the reason for the 3 star rating. Although the product manual states that the iPod will charge whenever the stereo is on when I plugged in my gen4 Nano the screen on the iPod displayed a message that this adaptor did not support charging. So my listening time in the car is limited to the internal battery life of the iPod.

Worst. Interface. Ever. Does not work with iPhone or Touch as many have noted.Used with the iPod models it DOES work with you will encounter one of the worst user interfaces in the history of consumer electronics. Absolutely no sorting or organization features for music of any kind no folders no playlists no sorting by artist or album. You get an alphabetical list of tracks on your device. Just start with A and if you have more than 20 songs on your iPod settle in for a few hours of scrolling through song titles to get to anything that starts with The.
Disapointed I was assured by the seller that this product would work with my radio not so.
Decent product could be better I have a JVC head unit which plays MP3's off of the CD this was great for audio books but I wanted to be able to continue the book while doing things like mowing the lawn so I bought this adapter to let me bring my books with me. The adapter itself is a bit bulky luckily my Dodge Ram has a nice spot behind and below the stereo in the dash for storing it and I was able to snake the iPod end into the cubby hole below the stereo. It was ridiculously easy to install. I struggled a bit with the interface trying to find the book I wanted stored on it the rudimentary display only gives the first 810 characters of the title but eventually figured it out not the best but I guess it's serviceable. The sound quality is really quite excellent and when you activate the iPod function on the stereo it begins playing immediately where you left off no waiting for a disk to spin up etc. But a major disappointment I came across was when my iPod ran out of battery and shut down. Apparently it does not charge my model of iPod.For the most part I'm happy with this purchase but I really do think that JVC/Apple could improve on it the bulky adapter is a nuisance but the cables are long enough to get past that The iPod end is large and could use some sort of disconnect to make it easier to fish through your dash but I got past that easily enough. The lack of charging on my iPod could force me to reconsider however.

Does not work with ipod Touch or Iphone I bought this item not knowing what I know now. This adapter does not work with Ipod Touch or Iphone. You can google this adapter and will find the same information.

good unit This is a good unit for the money. I guess I expected more out of it but it does what it said. The unit is easy to install and has everything you need in the box. The menus are a little hard to figure out but after some reading you can slowly navigate around. The unit gives good sound and has plenty of power. I did get a steering wheel control box with it and was able to make it work.
Great variety of features Installed this to my '06 Toyota Corolla S a month ago and I'm in love with it. The main reason why I purchased this was because I wanted to use my Ipod to listen to music rather than burn so many CDs every few weeks. I read the reviews on Amazon and they were so helpful before I decided to purchase it. I think the price is perfect for what it's worth. Even though you don't have a touch screen or a navigation system attached to this it still features a whole lot of what you may need it to do. I have only been using the USB port to hook up my Ipod to. Reason is because I do not own a smartphone yet to use the Bluetooth feature as well as the Satellite radio. The sound quality has been really crisp and it's also great to change the equilizer to fit the quality of sound you are searching for.The only thing I have noticed that makes me a little upset it that I can't play any of my podcasts on the stereo. I'm not sure if it's because they are about an hour plus long of a track but I doubt that could be the problem. When I press Band to get to the main menu of the Ipod the Podcasts just doesn't show up at all like it's not an option.
Seemed great from the reviews I bought the Clarion CX501 deck to replace the factory deck in my 2002 Lincoln LS that was eating CD's. The install of the deck went great. No problems went right in. within 2 or 3 minutes I noticed that the right side of the display was fading out. In a matter of 5 minutes after install I completely lost the right side of the screen.When I called the seller they said I could take the deck back out and send it back to them and wait until they refund me so that I could buy another one or I could buy another one and when I get the second one I could return it. Well that didn't seem right to me but they wouldn't budge. I guess that should have been my first warning. I gave in and bought a new one.Just got it and installed. The display is great. Only one problemThen factory amp in the back only works through the tuner. It does not work through the CD player or iPod via Bluetooth USB or Aux input. I attempted two separate iPods.Tried to call Clarion directly and they were close at 6pm PST and now I have two pieces of junk and I'm out nearly $400 at this point. Spend the extra money and go with a better deck. Good luck if you buy this one and I hope you have more patience with the customer service.
BIG KNOBS in big cars I have had this receiver for about 6 months as of Spring 2012. I have installed it in 2008 Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter 2500 170. I like the design. I replaced my stock single din unit with this double din. The vehicle that I installed it is a big one and this stereo makes perfect match with the rest of the controls on the dash board like A/C etc. Other good feature is that you can change the color of the display to match your dash board. Bluetooth works perfectly for calls streaming music to the receiver. The Bluetooth has also the option to store your phonebook in the receiver. Bluetooth options are not equal in every stereo. There are different formats options that they can support.You can just buy Sirius satellite radio tuner and plug it in. Some other brands require adapter that will cost you additional money. You can also keep the controls of the steering wheel with optional Swypak device. I think the receiver looks somehow stock. Thus it might not attracts thieves. Four good channels plus port for subs. Handy remote control front USB port and 3.5mm jack. I have video posted on yt about the receiver and installation in my vehicle yt username gyzari.You might need to purchase antenna adapter based on your vehicle make and model. Great upgrade for a 2008 Toyota Sienna Van I bought this headend to replace 4 year old stock Toyota Fujutsu 6 disc changer. The stock unit had started to act erratically i.e display fading not coming on audio loss etc. So I decided to get this unit based on reviews here along with a steering wheel control interface from Axxess and harness and dash surround plastic kit. It took me about an hour to install and it has been one of the greatest improvements to this vehicle!!! I don't usually get this enthusiastic about electronic gadgets but this one surpassed my expectations!!! The sound quality and power of the onboard amp after fiddling with the equalizer is just sensational even with stock speakers! I really enjoy the blue tooth for phone and audio use and ipod interface using the USB cord and USB flash drive interface. The single CD player works great and AM/FM tuner brings in stations well. For those who want to use a 3.5 mm jack they got you covered too!. The LED multicolor dispay is icing on the cake.
Not Bad Buggy. Wanted a basic unit no Nav or anything like that just a big volume knob! This one fit the bill I always have liked Clarion. It sounds great decent power for a head unit. Looks pretty cool. Ordered based on reviews but it does have some annoying quirks mine anyway. 1 No separate function buttons only one so you have to press it a number of times to go between Radio USB etc. I'd rather them be separate for quick access. 2 Bluetooth is terrible. I'd like to use BT for audio so then when I get a phone call it automatically comes through but the track change over bluetooth is so slow I can't use it and noticed bad audio quality too. So I've been using USB for my iPhone which causes a couple of problems.
Great indash Got this to replace my stock Challenger indash. about 1 shorter in width than my stock indash but still looks great in the car. Had it installed by a shop. Works great with my Ipod. I love the fact you can change the colors on the face to pretty much any color you wantCharges my IPod as it playsI have not used the BlueTooth feature yet but so far I am very happy with this product.
great unit I was actually kind of worried about this unit after having read some of the negative reviews but I love this unit. Bluetooth works great the unit produces great sound quality and not to mention it looks pretty darn cool. 100% satisfied with the purchase. For anyone worried about the LCD in direct sunlight the color gets funny but the readability of the display is not as bad as the reviews make it sound.
Great Sound and Features This receiver was a huge update for a 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid. No matter what I did with the tone controls it wasn't possible to make the old radio *not* sound boomy and 'thick' sounding. Not so with the Clarion the combination of the bass extension and some selective cutting of the upper bass leaves a system that sounds like it has a subwoofer even though the large battery in the trunk takes up the space needed for one. The volume goes almost all the way up 30 or 31 out of 33 before distorting and the overall design retains a 'stock' look in the dash. I was planning to upgrade the factory speakers too but now I'm not so sure.The receiver supports Sirius Bluetooth MP3 CDs and USB Flash drives as well as an aux input. It's supposed to connect to an iPhone although I don't have one.I had no trouble pairing my mobile phone with the Bluetooth and the builtin mic works fine for calls. Downloading the phone book from the phone was easy too. The remote control connects to my steering wheel controls with the help of an addon box. The dimmer and powered antenna connections work well. I found several color settings that matched the factory lighting well.My only complaints are* the display isn't as bright as it could be not unreadable even in daylight but a little pale compared to the dash lighting.* the radio has a lot of modes to scroll through with the Source button none of which can be disabled if that feature isn't used. I'd love to turn off Sirius and Aux.
Clarion CX501 I had to replace the system in a Mazda MX5 this unit. Installed using the Metra 997506 gave a factory install with more performance and features than the stock receiver.

Was Skeptical But this blew me away I put this deck in my 2003 Toyota Corolla CE in 2008 and it is very nice. All of the inputs and outputs work flawlessly. My primary reason for getting this was Auxin and it works smashingly. I adapted the RCA to phono and put the headphone out from my phones and mp3 players without incident. The installation was super easy and the manual is very detailed. Every wire is labeled and easily recognizable. This is a perfect deck to put in if you are a novice car modder.The power output is very nice without getting distorted. It is very loud and you have to watch that you won't blow your speakers if yours are not rated for 45w. My car has 2x5.5s in the front and 2x6x9s in the rear and this drives them beautifully.It will recognize mp3 cds and dvds. It will play all it's supported file types off of any of the media it can load. It has to scan usb devices every time it starts up or they are plugged in so you are advised to leave that to thumb drives. The sd card slot however doesn't have to be rescanned unless the sd card is taken out so a very large sd card can be loaded up with lots of music. It supports SDHC and micro sd with an adapter tested with 8 gig sdhc. If you have a multipurpose thumb drive music data pictures movies it may not always work. Some files that could run on windows will trip up this deck and have it just not recognize your files. I haven't tried it with any drives with multiple partitions.I have taken an audio book I own and ripped it to mp3s then loaded them all up on one DVD and this played just fine and kept my place between car start/stops. Used with AVIC X920BT, I highly recommend purchasing this cable if you have the AVIC system that supports iPod capability. Contrary to what the negative reviews about this product, I believe it is worth it if you want better sound and control of your music list without having to touch the iPod/iPhone itself. I purchased it through Amazon Warehouse which is refurbish/used goods so the price was only ~$30. The improved sound quality through this cord by itself is worth it to purchase this cable. Excellent Cable. Highly recommend., The picture of this cable shows the short version of the cable. When I bought it the cable was very long, actually longer than needed. This is good, more is better when it comes to cables. The shipping was FAST. I think I got it in 2 days. That was nice. The video quality is great. Good Cable With A Few Minor Flaws, This is a great cable but it does have a few minor flaws. Its a little short so you better have a nook or holder close to your radio. Also The Laynard that holds the dock connector cap on is as thin as a human hair. I'm just wainting for it break. Other than that it does everything I want it to too - charges, music, and videos from my iphone and ipod. Plus amazon has it at the cheapest price around. Nice addition for ipod/iphone owners., I purchased this item for use with my Pioneer BT3300 headunit. If you want to play video content from your ipod or iphone this is a must have item. The regular data cable which comes with your apple device will work great for audio but if you want to play video on your Pioneer headunit you will need this cable to do so. The build quality is nice and its a long enough not to be stressed when in use. For less than $20.00 it's a good deal. pioneer interface cable, Too short to be useful.., First, the positives. Thanks to Amazon and the seller, at least I didn't pay full retail for this cable. Secondly, there's no doubt this cable is well made. That being said, it just appears to be a joined USB charger cable for an iPhone, along with a 3.5 mm audio jack cable, and at a grand total of about 24" long (to be fair, I haven't measured it), it's really too short to be useful for anything at all. My iPhone won't even reach the seat in my Mercury Grand Marquis. I say put your money into a longer 5 or 6-foot iPhone charger cable and matching length 3.5mm audio cable. Add in 50 cents for some wire heat shrink wrap and you've got the a much more usable length cable for about the same money... Not exactly as shown, The photo shows a "Y" cable or pig tail (one cable that splits into two at USB/AUX jack end). In fact, this is a "V" cable (2 long cables that merge at the iPod/iPhone jack). This is disappointing, but it gets worse. There are two pieces of hand cut shrink tubing (commonly used to protect soldered wired) used to bind the two long cables together. I purchased this because of it was the only 18" cable that I could find, but given the lack of quality, I'll likely return it. Does as advertised., The wire was cheapest one I could find, and does exactly what it is suppose to do. Picture and sound is great. Pretty good, This cable is not needed to play audio from the iPod to the 3300bt but you will need it for app mode and to play videos off the iPod. It is a bit pricey for an iPod cable and it is very short (maybe 12') but I didn't mind.
