Stopped working in 30 days I bought this device in February and it seemed to work fine for 20 days and then all of a sudden it stopped. The reception and sound quality are ok although the remote is a little hard to use. All it shows is the backlit light with no info on the screen and the FM frequency is blank. I would suggest you don't waste your money.

    • AWESOME Just had this stereo installed. I am very happy with it. Prior to purchasing I was a little concerned about the function of the buttons after reading some of the reviews. I have no problems whatsoever. IT SOUNDS GREAT TOO. Buy it you wont be disappointed.
Buy @ Amazon! have'nt got to installing radio yet but i can comment on the fact that Amazon had the best price by a landslide.
works great Works great so far. easy to replace previous radio and does everything we want. Obviously for less than $60.00 we weren't buying a high end stereo.
Installed in 2001 Toyota Camry and so far so good Just finished installing it an hour ago in a 2001 Toyota Camry LE. Won't need the front trim piece for this car. Make sure to get the Scosche pocket adapter to make it fit and the Metra or Scosche wiring adapter. I used the Metra wiring harness and it matches up exactly with the wires. Had some issues with the fader not seeming to work but I may have hooked up the wires wrong so I have to check it. Sound is just as good as factory and the radio tuner is just as good as factory if not better. Read instructions on the clock setting but basically just hold the main button until it goes off then hold it until the clock flashes and use the directional buttons to set the time.
Great stereo for a great price! I bought this Pioneer deck to replace my pioneer premier deck I had that finally died almost 13 years old. Although it is not as high of quality or as full of features as the $800 deck it replaced this deck the DEH1200MP gets the job done and is great. I like that it has RCA jacks 1 pair for an amplifier and has the AUX plug in the front. The remote is helpful too. The faceplate is nothing fancy but I like that it is very easy to navigate and use especially the big volume knob. The deck works great and sounds great too and for the price you won't find a deck with all the features RCA preouts AUX input equalizer etc.. I would definitely recommend the deck to anyone looking for an inexpensive way to get good sounding music in your car.
Pioneer DEH1200MP The Pioneer DEH1200MP Bought this unit for the CD player for my wife the old player wore out. Installed this unit three and a half mounts ago it died on use. No power nothing works on it. Bench tested it and yep dead as a door nail. It has a one year warranty but as we all know these warrantees aren't worth the paper there wrote on. There is a factory authorized repair shop here in KCMO but by the time you run back and forth to the shop it always ends up costing more than the unit's worth. The same goes for sending it to Pioneer and the always seem to have an excuse for not fixing or replacing it. I'll end up repairing it myself that is if the main IC's did not burn up. If they did then the unit will go in to my electronics scrap pile I'll scrap out parts to fix some other piece of electronic junk. Wouldn't you know it made in Thailand! Looks like Japan outsources labor too.
use the remote This mp3 player has the eject button right next to the bass/treble button. sometimes you hit the wrong one and the cd comes out. Looks good at night but in the daytime you can bareley see the display. Careful when you touch the volume button because it'l switch to aux or radio.
pioneer deh1200mp cd receiver with For what I paid for this radio was a steal. It is a very oustanding radio and I am gald I was able to find it on amazon. It is just a oustanding and sounds oustanding.
GREAT PRODUCT!!!! This item is great for the price. everything functions it looks better in real life then in picture. it's solid and functions great plays cd and mp3 even though no one uses cd anymore there's an AUX plug you can plug your ipod or mp3 player in and it's great.
Middle of the Pack I purchased this item as a refurbished item not brand new. Deck came from a private individual well packaged and missing only the factory manual the manual is readily available online though through Pioneers website or a search online using the model number.I found the interface to be easy to work with but the buttons on the deck are fairly small making it a little hard to change stations/settings while on the move. The remote makes things easier and is the only way to use ATT or attenuate for quick turn down of radio deck does not have this option. This radio also does readily support any more than one amp if looking to expand/improve your system. With one RCA preout you are forced to split your signal not usually recommended if you want to hook up more than a single amplifier. As far as custom audio setting go it did not have as many options to customize the audio as I expected there would be. You get a HIGH MID LOW adjustment option with LOUD control but not much more than that. The radio would make a great replacement over an older model car radio especially when accompanied with quality aftermarket speakers.

    • Simple- Use with PCs, GPS, game consoles, CD/DVD players, MP3 players, laptops etc.
    • Operating times - Up to 7 hours playback using internal Lithium-Ion battery or continuous with USB.
    • Compatible - works with any playback device that has a standard headphone jack (1/8" or 3.5mm).
    • The 90 Degrees headphone jack swivels allowing for easy storage, portability and hard-to-reach connections.
    • Listen to music on any Bluetooth compatible headphone, hearing aid, speaker or more.

    • great item I got this unit so I wouldn't have to be tethered to my computer. Pairing the unit to my headphones was pretty easy. The only this is that you have to be within about 5 feet from the unit. If not you will experience some latency. Other than that the unit is worth the money. It does what it says it does. I would have liked to see better battery life though.I would recommend it.
I like this device This sure has been a great device. It pairs up with my headphones really easily. I've got a pair of bluetooth headphones from Motorolla that I use when I exercise. The main reason I wanted this was so I could run on the treadmill at the gym and listen to the television. Using traditional wired headphones at least two or three times per run my hand would hit the wire and yank it out so anyway I'm very happy with the device. The only thing you have to watch out for is that when you push the device into a jack it is easily to accidentally push the button that turns the thing off and on so if you just tap it it disconnects from your headset and you can't just click it again. At least with my headphones. I have to shut my headphones and the BluBridge minijack all the way down and start them both up again. So I just have to be careful pushing the device into the receiver when I use it. Otherwise it is great and I've been on the treadmill up to 50 minutes and no issues with battery life.
BluBridge MiniJack Review This device is rather small so be sure you can keep track of it. It does not have a lanyard slot though. The casing feels a little flimsy like it could fall apart after some time but I highly doubt it. The device works well and holds a long charge. DOES NOT COME WITH A WALL PLUG IN FOR CHARGING. IT DOES COME WITH A USB CHARGING CABLE THOUGH. Great product though! Works great with my laptops desktops portable gaming devices and of course my MP3 player. Definitely worth it if you take care of it.
Works Like a Champ Works great and was easy to set up. Range is pretty good 20 feet or so until it starts to lose signal strength. The first one I ordered stopped working after one week but Amazon quickly replaced it. I have had the second one for two months or so with zero problems.
Really works ! Easy to pair ! Bought these after reading many reviews on different products. Definitely had some doubts about the transmitted sound quality but I'm satisfied with it. I paired my Panasonic LCD TV & iPod Shuffle to my Sony Ericsson WM600 Headsets with ease. Not sure if a full charge will last 7 hours as stated by I did use it for about 5 hours. I purchased the BluBridge for watching TV late at night and it does a great job. BUT Cons 1. Too expensive.2. Needs a battery life indicator.3. Should come with a standard wall charger instead of USB charger.4. Does lose connection intermittently when used with my iPod Shuffle placed in my pocket.5. No pairing memory needs to be repaired after turning it off.
Love I so wish I had this year's ago. Plugged into my XM INNO I can use my stereo Bluetooth headset while biking. I just got portable bluetooth speakers and it works great.
bluetooth transmitter It connects well with headphones. It does not work well when other bluetooth is around. Keeps disconnecting with my headphones looking for different connection.
Extremely useful Our TV is in the living room and fills the house with noise. I bought this bluetooth transmitter and now someone can watch TV without blaring noise throughout the house. I also use it when streaming stuff from my computer while I walk aroud the house. Actually has a pretty good range. I like the fact that it just plugs into any minijack AND that it folds in for storage. Great purchase. The button sequences take a little bit of fiddling to learn but not impossible.
Miccus BluBridge MiniJack This little device works great. Battery Life could be better but the minijack does what it is deigned to do quite well.
great These are great. Works for my TV just fine. Use it for my MP3 player Sansa Fuze. I pair them with Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones and it works great. Wish there was a separate on and off button. And I wish the button was a little bigger. When I hold it down my finger covers the button and I can't see the light flash so it is a little annoying.

    • USB connector also supports playback of MP3 and WMA files

    • Too Many Good Competitors to Consider This Had to return this to the installation folks twice. Bluetooth and touch screen freezes. Covered under warranty although I'm out a stereo for a week. Growing up Clarion was the top brand. Times have changed.
Over all ok After reading all the mixed reviews of the VX400 I went with the newest model out on the market the VX401. My husband installed the unit in our 04 Tahoe after buying an aftermarket wiring harness one thing we have found out is because of the On Star this requires an expensive harness we went with a lesser one because I have choose not to use the On Star feature with my truck. The features are simple and the menu screen is easy to nagivate. The intergrated microphone is great and BT works great!!! We are still in the process of linking the rear factory DVD to the front player I will update as we progress. If you are looking for navigation though go with another model this one has the capabilities but the expansion kit is very expensive.Over all this radio has done everything I have wanted I wanted a BT intergrated radio touch screen and a good radio. I don't have satellite radio or any high tech equipment I just wanted the cool simple things in a radio. I hope this helps. I am happy with my choice and will be enjoying the radio for awhile.
Unreliable. Not a good value for the $$$ I will never buy another Clarion deck after owning this unit. Sure the deck is a grand improvement on a stock deck but for the price I'd rather own a highend nondvd deck DVD being novelty in a sedan. This is the bargain barrel DVD touchscreen deck and it is not worth your time or money. The interface sucks and it is unreliable. I can't tear it a new arsehole though without giving it some positive feedback though so here are some pros.PROSSounds better than a stock deck. Builtin Bluetooth mic works well for phone calls. You can watch movies on it when it lets you. Inexpensive for a DVD touch deck.CONSAUDIO QUALITYThe first next thing you will notice is the lack of midrange frequency in your audio primarily where vocals are heard. You can turn up the bass and treble but there are no controls for Mid. So basically everything is thumpthump crashcrash and nothing in between. Songs I love to listen to at home and via headphones sound totally different and unremarkable through this clarion deck.
Do you like your movies Squashed or Cropped? The VX401 is for you! I bought the Clarion VX401 from Amazon in February 2011. Its predecessor model VX400 had lots of decent reviews on Amazon so I bought the 2011 model VX401 hoping it would be just as good or better. Our family car has headrestmounted monitors for the second row passengers. The VX401 seemed like a good device for queuing up movies for our pintsized passengers to watch in the rear. The user interface is woeful especially if you are trying to navigate the menus using the handheld IR remote control and the DVD aspect ratio choices are unforgivably bad. The VX401 is back in the box now and headed back to Amazon for a refund.Thankfully I did a trial setup of this unit on a workbench BEFORE bothering to install it in our vehicle. My workbench test of the VX401 was as follows. A portable 12volt power supply Jump & Carry JNC660 supplied power to the head unit through the Clarion wiring harness. The black Ground wire was connected to negative terminal the yellow BATT and red ACC wires were connected to the positive terminal. At that point the VX401 was powered on and the grassgreen BRAKE wire was connected to negative terminal to bypass the parking brake DVD interlock. I inserted a DVD with standard testpattern images to check aspect ratios. The La Ratatouille test pattern image on the Pixar T0Y ST0RY 3 DVD could not be displayed properly on this unit. There are only 2 aspect ratio settings on the VX401. Under the 169 setting the test image was squashed unnecessarily with too much letterbox at top and bottom. All 3 yellow rectangles in the test pattern were visible but a circular portion of the test pattern was displayed as a flattened ellipse. Under the 43 setting the circle looked OK but the entire test image was cropped only showing 2 of the three yellow rectangles in the test pattern. Indeed when the DVD movie was played the characters in the movie were Squashed letterboxed in 169 mode and Cropped in 43 mode.
If buying for BTAudio beware I purchased this item for two features. 1 Bluetooth audio streaming and 2 video inputs for my HKS CAMP 2. While the device technically fulfills both my needs it goes about doing it in the most nonsensical manner possible. Unlike other aftermarket and even OEM stereos that support BTAudio this unit does not have it listed as an input. It will do it but it requires you to navigate through several menus to access it after every boot up of the device. It will also discontinue playing your audio if you leave the bluetooth menu screen to do anything else with the headunit. If you're looking for something that will allow you to hop in your car and play your music from your phone or other bluetooth enabled media player with no hassle look elsewhere. After discovering this and finding no way around it I promptly pulled it out of the car and sent it back. I'm just glad Amazon was good about the return process.

    • it works well and was inexpensive I bought this to put in my old blazer that just had a hole in the dash from where the previous owner took his stereo out. i wanted something that worked was from a name i knew and wasn't too expensive so WHEN not IFthey steal it i wont be out too much money. i don't use all the functions just cd and radio and it works well for that install was good custom went together fine. i am very happy with the unit and would get another w/o hesitation.
Son loves Son loves this. Installed by Pep Boyz easily. The price on this player is exceptional. Includes an Aux for MP3 players. My son is happy to have tunes now. Recommend.
Easy install decent product I ordered this radio to replace the stolen radio from my Jeep Wrangler. I hadn't planned on replacing it at all but my wife noticed this item as a special and forwarded it to me. I couldn't beat the price so I jumped on it. I picked up a Metra wiring harness kit at my local auto parts store and used the instructions from the box to do the install wiring up the radio first solder people don't just twist and tape or pinch them together. Took me about an hour to solder up the wiring harness and install the radio. Sounds great looks great and I had the presets and clock set up without picking up the manual. Unlike one other review posted here I found the interface to be intuitive.
Great item.! When I received this item i think it's beautiful and awesome! But I need to say that the lines in it is not enough sometimes. I have a 2000 Jetta and I installed it into my car. I still need to pay 70 dollars to install it while buying some parts that are necessary. But after all the quality is good and it looks great. It's a good choice if your car can just simply install it in.
Great Car Stereo ESPECIALLY given it's price whoa I've bought JVC stereos for about 12 years now I think that this is the fourth unit I've had from them. I had all of them in my old pickup then transferred this one into the pickup I just bought. The cd player on all of them died after about 3 years. So why the five stars when the units have died as they have? First once I had the first one installed the rest of them hooked up using exactly the same mounting gear slide the old one out slide the new one in. Bingo you're done. Next each time I've replaced them they've been seriously cheaper seriously better features to boot. The first one I bought cost me $250 plus tax of course it was just a player with a remote. By the time I got this one I bought it for like $80 it plays mp3s or whatever else you throw at it and it has aux input so I can plug in an mp3 player how great is that? For eighty bucks! Too cool for school. It sounds great it's pretty much bombproof and idiotproof just accept that you're going to buy a new one every three years and you're going to want to anyways to get the latest/greatest features. I'm assuming that by the next iteration the thing will serve you coffee and scratch your arm if you hold it close enoughIt may be that the units go south due to my using them constantly and using them hard playing dirty cds on them can't help their laser setup and they've been in pickups and bounced around a lot because I do use the truck as a truck it's not a suburban toy.
      cool
Best stereo I've ever bought I bought this for the front aux input. I can play my android phone through it so I can listen to Pandora Radio through my car speakers I can hook my Kindle to it and listen to audio books from Audible.com over my car speakers and American Gods sounds incredible this way btw! I can listen to my Ipod through it and one of my best friends hooked her Iphone to it and played her music through it and it sounds fantastic.
Nice but doesnt get very loud. I bought this brand new to replace my pioneer cd player. the only reason was this one had aux in which is what i wanted. my pioneer had a better sound and got way louder. this is pretty quiet even when cranked up all the way. its nice but when it got out performed by a ten year old cd player i wasnt very happy. if it just got a little louder i would give it 5 stars.
Rock the Carbah Rock the Carbah This stereo is awesome. Within 48 hours of having ORDERED it from amazon i.e. clicked to buy it it was in my car and rockingplugin installation. Plays burned data cds like a dream so you don't have to mess with an ipod though it plays that too which is fantastic. The little remote comes with a battery and is perfectI stuck it with a velcro poster holder to my parking brake so I don't have to reach all the way to the dash to change the track or volume. The settings are exhaustive yet refreshingly simpleno research required for how to adjust the sound just right. It detaches from the dash really easily to keep the city thieves away. Love the button that instantly turns the sound way down in case you need to answer the phone or hear someone talk. My only complaint would be that the faceplate doesn't come with a case. And it's a smokin bargain.
Everything I wanted. I have seen reports of skipping from rough use. I have not experienced this and this is the product I was looking for.. easy ti install. And the price was right ! Delivery was on time.

    • HORRIBLE This item is my worst purchase on Amazon! after about 3wks of getting this installed it started cutting off and randomly jumps from avi to cd to stereo! I can't even enjoy one song in my car now! And NO I did not install on my own or have a friend do it. I took it to Car Toys so it would be done correctly.
Buyer beware I bought this unit in Dec. 2011 and 6 weeks later it started malfunctioning. The CD and DVD play back was constantly shutting down. I had had it professionally installed. Of course the return for refund policy from the online seller is 30 days. I call BOSS to return for repair and they tell me I have to pay for shipping both ways! Wonderful customer noservice!Needless to say I will not be reinstalling this unit or anything from BOSS in my vehicles.Buyer beware Go Pioneer or Kenwood you won't regret it.
Boss Radio This radio has pretty good sound quality output . The display is crisp. Radio does not tell You the time though which is extremely annoying.

    • good unit This is a good unit for the money. I guess I expected more out of it but it does what it said. The unit is easy to install and has everything you need in the box. The menus are a little hard to figure out but after some reading you can slowly navigate around. The unit gives good sound and has plenty of power. I did get a steering wheel control box with it and was able to make it work.
Great variety of features Installed this to my '06 Toyota Corolla S a month ago and I'm in love with it. The main reason why I purchased this was because I wanted to use my Ipod to listen to music rather than burn so many CDs every few weeks. I read the reviews on Amazon and they were so helpful before I decided to purchase it. I think the price is perfect for what it's worth. Even though you don't have a touch screen or a navigation system attached to this it still features a whole lot of what you may need it to do. I have only been using the USB port to hook up my Ipod to. Reason is because I do not own a smartphone yet to use the Bluetooth feature as well as the Satellite radio. The sound quality has been really crisp and it's also great to change the equilizer to fit the quality of sound you are searching for.The only thing I have noticed that makes me a little upset it that I can't play any of my podcasts on the stereo. I'm not sure if it's because they are about an hour plus long of a track but I doubt that could be the problem. When I press Band to get to the main menu of the Ipod the Podcasts just doesn't show up at all like it's not an option.
Seemed great from the reviews I bought the Clarion CX501 deck to replace the factory deck in my 2002 Lincoln LS that was eating CD's. The install of the deck went great. No problems went right in. within 2 or 3 minutes I noticed that the right side of the display was fading out. In a matter of 5 minutes after install I completely lost the right side of the screen. When I called the seller they said I could take the deck back out and send it back to them and wait until they refund me so that I could buy another one or I could buy another one and when I get the second one I could return it. Well that didn't seem right to me but they wouldn't budge. I guess that should have been my first warning. I gave in and bought a new one.Just got it and installed. The display is great. Only one problemThen factory amp in the back only works through the tuner. It does not work through the CD player or iPod via Bluetooth USB or Aux input. I attempted two separate iPods.Tried to call Clarion directly and they were close at 6pm PST and now I have two pieces of junk and I'm out nearly $400 at this point. Spend the extra money and go with a better deck. Good luck if you buy this one and I hope you have more patience with the customer service.
BIG KNOBS in big cars I have had this receiver for about 6 months as of Spring 2012. I have installed it in 2008 Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter 2500 170. I like the design. I replaced my stock single din unit with this double din. The vehicle that I installed it is a big one and this stereo makes perfect match with the rest of the controls on the dash board like A/C etc. Other good feature is that you can change the color of the display to match your dash board. Bluetooth works perfectly for calls streaming music to the receiver. The Bluetooth has also the option to store your phonebook in the receiver. Bluetooth options are not equal in every stereo. There are different formats options that they can support. You can just buy Sirius satellite radio tuner and plug it in. Some other brands require adapter that will cost you additional money. You can also keep the controls of the steering wheel with optional Swypak device. I think the receiver looks somehow stock. Thus it might not attracts thieves. Four good channels plus port for subs. Handy remote control front USB port and 3.5mm jack. I have video posted on yt about the receiver and installation in my vehicle yt username gyzari. You might need to purchase antenna adapter based on your vehicle make and model. I am using it with these speakers
Great upgrade for a 2008 Toyota Sienna Van I bought this headend to replace 4 year old stock Toyota Fujutsu 6 disc changer. The stock unit had started to act erratically i.e display fading not coming on audio loss etc. So I decided to get this unit based on reviews here along with a steering wheel control interface from Axxess and harness and dash surround plastic kit. It took me about an hour to install and it has been one of the greatest improvements to this vehicle!!! I don't usually get this enthusiastic about electronic gadgets but this one surpassed my expectations!!! The sound quality and power of the onboard amp after fiddling with the equalizer is just sensational even with stock speakers! I really enjoy the blue tooth for phone and audio use and ipod interface using the USB cord and USB flash drive interface. The single CD player works great and AM/FM tuner brings in stations well. For those who want to use a 3.5 mm jack they got you covered too!. The LED multicolor dispay is icing on the cake.
Not Bad Buggy. Wanted a basic unit no Nav or anything like that just a big volume knob! This one fit the bill I always have liked Clarion. It sounds great decent power for a head unit. Looks pretty cool. Ordered based on reviews but it does have some annoying quirks mine anyway. 1 No separate function buttons only one so you have to press it a number of times to go between Radio USB etc. I'd rather them be separate for quick access. 2 Bluetooth is terrible. I'd like to use BT for audio so then when I get a phone call it automatically comes through but the track change over bluetooth is so slow I can't use it and noticed bad audio quality too. So I've been using USB for my iPhone which causes a couple of problems.
Great indash Got this to replace my stock Challenger indash. about 1 shorter in width than my stock indash but still looks great in the car. Had it installed by a shop. Works great with my Ipod. I love the fact you can change the colors on the face to pretty much any color you wantCharges my IPod as it playsI have not used the BlueTooth feature yet but so far I am very happy with this product.
great unit I was actually kind of worried about this unit after having read some of the negative reviews but I love this unit. Bluetooth works great the unit produces great sound quality and not to mention it looks pretty darn cool. 100% satisfied with the purchase. For anyone worried about the LCD in direct sunlight the color gets funny but the readability of the display is not as bad as the reviews make it sound.
Great Sound and Features This receiver was a huge update for a 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid. No matter what I did with the tone controls it wasn't possible to make the old radio *not* sound boomy and 'thick' sounding. Not so with the Clarion the combination of the bass extension and some selective cutting of the upper bass leaves a system that sounds like it has a subwoofer even though the large battery in the trunk takes up the space needed for one. The volume goes almost all the way up 30 or 31 out of 33 before distorting and the overall design retains a 'stock' look in the dash. I was planning to upgrade the factory speakers too but now I'm not so sure. The receiver supports Sirius Bluetooth MP3 CDs and USB Flash drives as well as an aux input. It's supposed to connect to an iPhone although I don't have one.I had no trouble pairing my mobile phone with the Bluetooth and the builtin mic works fine for calls. Downloading the phone book from the phone was easy too. The remote control connects to my steering wheel controls with the help of an addon box. The dimmer and powered antenna connections work well. I found several color settings that matched the factory lighting well.My only complaints are* the display isn't as bright as it could be not unreadable even in daylight but a little pale compared to the dash lighting.* the radio has a lot of modes to scroll through with the Source button none of which can be disabled if that feature isn't used. I'd love to turn off Sirius and Aux.
Clarion CX501 I had to replace the system in a Mazda MX5 this unit. Installed using the Metra 997506 gave a factory install with more performance and features than the stock receiver.

      • Absolutely Amazing The Sony XNV660BT is my favorite radio yet. The display looks great! Tom Tom GPS is very accurate and I added the Backup Camera and Sirius Radio too. I love the iPhone interface. This is very easy to use and worth every penny. I was uncertain at first whether I would like that the Tom Tom Module was external. But I just installed it in my glove Box so I can eject it easily for updates. It's the best out there.
No ssues whatsoever I purchased this product 2 weeks ago from Car Toys. The package came within 3 days and was ready for install right away. I drive a 2007 Cadillac CTS so i also needed to purchase the Metra 40VW10 10Inch VW Antenna Adapter $8 Metra 992006 Installation Kit $29 and Metra GMOS10 harness $75. Everything arrived quiickly and i was ready for install within 4 days. Best Buy was backed up on appointments for a week so I reviewed the local August shops and chose Lawson's. They were fast efficient and only $125. it was done in 1 day on a first come first serve basis. The screen itself is amazing. The bluetooth is flawless and with the microfone installed up near the driver's sun visor the phonecalls are clearer than with my actual phone. The navigation has been spot on so far. I have had no issues with the maps loading or poor signal as some have suggested. You can even turn off the voice control commands and continue to listen to music or watch a movie while the GPS map displays on the screen. As far as the iPOD function there have been a lot of complaints about not being able to go to the next song without being sent all the way back to the main screen. I personally have a 30GB thumbdrive plugged into the rear USB drive. There is a cord from the back of the system running to my glove compartment where I can connect/disconnect my thumbdrive or iPOD. The Sony system allows me to play my music in the order of the playlist I created on the thumbdrive continuously without errors just by selecting the next track. The movies play loud and clear on the screen as well. DVDs look amazing and have a high resolution. After having the Sony XNV660BT for two weeks now I have yet to have any real issues only complaint is that the USB takes 1520 seconds to load when starting the car.
I'm pretty happy Okay sorry to say..but I love this head unit. Let me first say that this is the first LCD head unit I did not get stock with a vehicle though. I had a JBL premium sound LCD in my 2008 Limited 4Runner and thought it was okay. This Sony HU blows it away. Tom Tom GPSEasy to use and easily updatable on your PC. The JBL unit I had with my Toyota required me to buy a new Nav CD every year for about $270! I have owned a Garmin and place the Tom Tom far above it as well. Ease of use and features are great. BluetoothWhat a difference this one is over my last 3 systems. I mounted my microphone at the left corner of my windshield and I have yet to get one complaint on my voice clarity or volume yet. My wife even asked me if I was on the handset. Setup was easy use is too easy and I'm more pleased with this than any other I've ever used. Ipod useI saw where users did not care for this feature. I have no problem. It's somewhat slow but other than that it's a huge upgrade over anything that comes from Toyota/JBL. I am able to scroll through playlists artists and songs. I don't know how or why other users had problems..but mine works just fine. Speed between selections is my only gripe. DVDI've never had this ability and it is certainly cool. I do not use it when driving but when I installed it I did ground the E brake wire to my frame to see what happened. Worked like a charm. You don't need a kit or any of the other crap if you want to violate state and federal law.but I don't do that and neither should you! Navigation through functionsEasy. What more can I say? The remote is handy when my wife does not agree with my choice in music. Steering wheel audio functions optionalI wanted to retain my ability to use the controls of my steering wheel and did. Tacotunes sells a unit for my 2011 Tacoma that is self programing and works awesome. I strongly suggest spending extra time and money on this. You never know how much you use them until you don't have them. All in all I'm very happy.
just buy a simple stereo like a lot of people after my orininal stereo broke down i wanted to get a new stereo with GPS and vedio together so i bought this product. but the reality dont work out that way. at first everything is good. i am happy the only problem i have is sometimes the stereo got disconnected with my ipod so i have to reselect the AV mode to fix it. less than 2 month after i bought this product GPS is broken it says on the screen waiting for valid signal. it took it a long time to find the signal no kidding 20 mins and above. in some cases even after i get to my destination it's still searching how ridiculous is that. so i spend another 150 to buy a separate GPS. what really pisses me off is now even the audio now dont work right.
Great Head Unit Some Areas For Improvement I've had this installed on my car for a little over six months now and on the whole I like the Sony Head Unit. Although there are definitely some areas for improvement the unit has been working great for me overall. Here's What I LikeTomTom GPS is fantastic. This is one of the main reasons I choose this unit. If you have one of their newer portable GPS's this behaves just like that with advance lane guidance and everything.
Worst Sony product even for a loyal Sony customer Pluses+Nice looking screen+Nice sound quality but then again it may be my awesome speakersThe list of minusesfirst unit had Tomtom unit which was causing the rest of the head unit to freeze and be unresponsive.replacement GPS unit stopped working 2 months after professional installationwithout possibility of exchange after 1 monthvolume knob does not work if you spin it normally. you have to pull or push it while turning to get the inputscreen recognizes the input by changing color on the button but does not execute your commandswiping to switch songs requires a swipe of the entire screen. can cause callus on finger if you keep doing it. just use the remoteBluetooth mic is garbagetakes Sony car stereo 4 minutes to recognize a new Sony mp3 player plugged into the USB. Always starts from the first folder. Unsat.updates on the TomTom freeze constantly connected to a new Sony VAIO laptop. Unsat.limited updates on TomTom and this is supposedly the top of the line? C'mon give us the free updates like you do with cheaper models. You WILL see GPS SIGNAL UNAVAILABLE quite often even on clear days.takes you back to the top of the folder list when you turn it off and on more than 50% of the time. Just remember which song I left off please! I think it's worse if you have it hooked up to a USB source.used to detect my Bluetooth Android phone instantly. Now I have to manually make the unit search for it which is annoying while driving stickshift. Eventually it finds the phone but I have no idea when it will.can't change folders with the remote which is all I really need since the unit won't remember which folder I last listened toGPS menus are so strange. some can go back to the upper level some you need to select something to get all the way through the menu and back to normal.Bottom line Bad partnership between TomTomapple please make a car nav/stereo. I have always bought Sony instead of Apple but this is the biggest let down for this once loyal customer.
Excellent Navigation Unit I have this unit installed in my Audi A6. Originally I planned to install it myself. That was foolish. I ended up paying a local place to do it for me and I'm very glad I did. It is a very intensive install especially with all the accessories Steerwing wheel control hookup/programming powered antenna GPS unit Ipod control etc Anyway about the unit.If you are looking for a NAVIGATION unit indash you will not find a better one. This is a true TomTom unit and is accordingly amazing. The fact that there is a standalone GPS unit you put into your glove box so you can pull it out and bring it inside to update is awesome. The DVD/Video function is beautiful the screen looks great and the integration while driving in GPS mode is seemless. The cd/mp3/radio/usb all work great and the head unit sounds amazing. I had the Bose stock system and it sounded great this upgrades the sound dramatically. Even my radio clarity has gone up very unusual with aftermarket for German cars. The iPod control that everyone seems to incessantly complain about is indeed slow. In fact all menus are a tad slow. However if your primary concern for a radio is for it to function exactly like your iPod then buy an Alpine. I would also recommend not buying a GPS. However it does work fine if you don't feel the need to constantly change the song yourself. Make a playlist and let it play. Put it on shuffle whatever. The only reason I'm dedicatig so much space to this is that everyone who reviews this unit this seems to be there biggest complaint and they give it a bad rating because of iPod integration. Silly. Even better idea. Put your entire playlist on a USB drive and plug it into your USB port in your glovebox that attaches to the unit and play off of that and don't bother with dragging your iPod along. If you insist on using your ipod realize that your ipod is not controlling the head unit. The head unit is using the ipod and plan playlists accordingly. For me specifically I only use playlists in my ipod or I play whole albums.
Very Very Good The Sony XNV660bt is an excellent purchase for your money.I gave the Sony XNV660bt four stars because HD radio is not included.
When it works it's amazing! I bought a refurbished unit and after installing it quickly discovered hardware problems. The navigation worked 10% of the time and otherwise had blinding white lines on the screen. I sent the unit in to be repaired because they were out of replacements and they sent it back still broken. I sent it back again they sent it back MORE broken! I don't have to tell you how frustrating it was to install/uninstall this thing every time tech support was lazy. I finally raised hell and they sent me a brand new unit after some of the longest holds and transfers ever. And it is awesome! It has lane notifications road color options for day and night different voices speed limits everything. The only thing it doesn't have is traffic which I believe you can pay for separately. I like TomTom much better than Garmin personally which is why I bought this device. I think though that Sony is discontinuing this unit and future units because of multivendor problems. The bluetooth is seamless with my phone both calls and music. I can stream Pandora from my phone. Until the latest update on my Android it showed all song information rooted phone works. With my ipod via USB cable sold separately but cheap it is easy to use unless you want to change albums and then you have to start at the top menu. AM/FM radio text rotates with only a few characters at a time but that's a product of radio technology.Good use of screen space and text placement overall. I definitely like the volume dial although it's slow because it's still controlled digitally and quickclick for turning it off and switching between music and nav. I feel that when first using a new device like this your probability for accidents goes way up but now that I'm used to it the navigation makes me a safer driver. Overall higher quality sound and more features than my stock unit.
Garbage!!! I received the Sony XNV660BT in July for a birthday gift. I had it installed and it worked great for about a month. After that it went downhill FAST! Here it is six months later and I am paying to have it uninstalled AGAIN to send back for repairs AGAIN. The first GPS wouldn't get a signal. I had just the GPS and antenna replaced that time. After putting the new GPS and antenna in it worked for one day then quit working again. Also at that time the touch screen started to have lines across it and it quit responding to touch commands. I paid to have the entire unit uninstalled and sent back. They repaired the unit and sent it back to me. I paid to have it installed again. I drove off and the GPS now will sometimes get a signal but it loses it quickly and the screen goes from color to black and white plus only half the screen will respond to touch commands. I now am getting ready to pay to have the unit uninstalled again only to send it back in to have it repaired again. I am done with Sony I want my money back and I refuse to EVER purchase another Sony product again. Do not bother with this product you will be very disappointed.UPDATE 1/24/2012I am now on my 4th GPS unit and sending my entire unit back AGAIN for repairs. Sony REFUSES to replace my unit. I was informed yesterday on the phone that they will ONLY continue to repair the unit until they are no longer required to due to the 1 year warranty expiring. Horrible customer service. Terrible product. I've even had the install verified by another installer just to ensure that it was done properly which it was. Sony refuses to stand by their crappy product instead they screw over their customers stating they repair their inferior products. Don't waste your time don't bother with their products.
